Swinstry Mittens

Pattern from Louisa Harding's 'Winter Muse Landscapes'.

I consider myself a patient person, but still, small projects suit me more, that's why I'm so keen on 'one ball projects' as these mittens. I was a bit worried when I finished the first mitten, as the pattern called for 'one ball', but it looked as if there wasn't enough yarn for the second one. Fortunately, it turned out alright. But DON'T waste any yarn, you know what I mean.

I quite like the 'Impression' yarn, it's so soft, yet changes color in light.

'My So Called Scarf'

A wool yarn named 'Maya' used.

I call the stitch 'bamboo leaves', 'Ove and Lucia' says it looks also like chicken footprint, while su.Zen told me the stitch was actually called 'herringbone'.

Teacup Fairy... er...A Modern Version

Whether a mug, cup, or kettle
They plant blooms wherever they settle.
It could be a jar, a box or a shoe.
All we discard, they magically renew.
They use roses and daisies and violets too,
To make fairie treasures for me and for you.

The top and the skirt were knitted with Knitty's 'Blythe Gear' pattern.

The blank face gives her more plasticity.

A Childhood Dream

I didn't have many dolls when I was a little girl (dolls didn't interest me all that much then).

But my parents did give me a lovely baby doll with red dress, which had curly hair, and could close her eyes while lying down. She didn't have a name, but I still have the vague memory of sleeping with her company.

A Bunny Looking Tomato

What's this in pensioner David Maber's garden? It looks like a rabbit - but it's a tomato. It's got a bunny's floppy ears and took 76-year-old Mr Maber and wife Audrey completely by surprise when they went to check on how their home - grown crop was developing.

Now their neighbours in Gosport, Hants, want to know what they have been feeding it. Mr Maber said: 'It's just so realistic. We've all had a good giggle about it.'

Cape Comes Back into Fashion

Don't know whether I will look good in a cape, but I doubt it will help me fly.

BTW: Will Superman crash if his cape falls off??

Dutch Baby
